com.android.providers.settings.auto_generated_rro_product__ Copy

A build-generated Runtime Resource Overlay (RRO) targeting the settings provider (com.android.providers.settings), the component that stores the system, secure and global settings values the platform and apps read through the Settings provider APIs. The overlay supplies product-partition resource values to that provider at runtime without changing its code. As with the other overlays of this shape, the name is produced by the AOSP build script that emits these packages, which writes a manifest package name of "<target>.auto_generated_rro_<partition>__" and marks the overlay static (android:isStatic="true"). On this site it is seen signed by Google and by OEMs including Samsung, Motorola, OnePlus and OUKITEL. Note that an RRO overlays the target package's Android resources, which is not the same thing as the settings values the provider stores for the system; which of the provider's resources a given build overrides here could not be sourced. It has no user interface and is not launched; the overlay manager applies it. Version note: this is a build artefact whose presence and contents vary by OEM, build and Android release. No specific Android release that changed this overlay's role could be sourced, so do not assume its contents are consistent across versions or vendors. For Android Enterprise, EMM and kiosk use it has no enrolment or management function, and it is not the mechanism by which an EMM applies policy. Disabling it would drop the build's product-level overrides of this component's resources; because those values are build-specific and unknown, treat it as caution and test on a single device before acting.
