com.android.theme.icon.roundedrect Copy

"Rounded Rectangle", one of the icon-shape theme overlays from the Android Open Source Project. It is a Runtime Resource Overlay (RRO) with no code of its own: it targets the core "android" framework package in the android.theme.customization.adaptive_icon_shape overlay category, and when enabled it replaces the icon mask path that AdaptiveIconDrawable uses to crop launcher icons, so they are drawn as rounded rectangles. It also sets the corner radius of system dialogs to match. It has no launcher icon and is switched on or off by the overlay manager. Version note: the icon-shape overlays lived in frameworks/base up to Android 11. In June 2021, during Android 12 development, AOSP removed them together with the colour and font overlays, noting they were no longer used with the new theming, and they are absent from the Android 12 source. Our sample nevertheless still records this package on Android 14, 15 and 16 builds, mostly from Motorola and signed with Motorola's key, so some OEMs evidently continue to ship their own copy. Whether it is still offered as a choice in those OEMs' settings could not be sourced. For Android Enterprise, EMM and kiosk use, its sourced contents (an icon mask and dialog corner radii) are cosmetic, and no enrolment or management role is identified in the sources cited here. Disabling it is not expected to offer any benefit, so it is best left alone; test on the device first if a change is needed.

• Re-signed by each device maker with its own platform key - 7 different certificates appear across 3 device makers in our sample. That is the signature of a stock AOSP/system package every OEM builds and signs itself, not a single maker's or a third party's preinstall.
• Never reported as user-facing, so it runs as a background or system component rather than an app the user opens.
