Guidance

A Qualcomm Technologies (QTI) system component with no label of its own: on the devices recorded here it reports its package name in place of an application name, has no launcher icon and is never user-facing, which is typical of vendor plumbing rather than of an app. It is OEM platform-signed and ships broadly on Snapdragon hardware, including rugged enterprise devices such as the Zebra and CipherLab handhelds in our sample. What can be verified about it is narrow but consistent. A published system service dump from a Snapdragon device shows a service registered as dpmservice behind the com.qti.dpm.IDpmService interface, and vendor init scripts in Qualcomm-based device trees start a matching native daemon at /system/bin/dpmd, which creates /data/dpm and opens sockets named dpmd, tcm and dpmwrapper while running in the system, readproc, inet and radio groups. The package itself holds NETWORK_SETTINGS and ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE along with a Qualcomm READPROC permission. The networking groups, the network settings permission and the socket names together point to a data path or networking role. Beyond that, Qualcomm publishes no description of this component, and what the DPM initialism stands for could not be confirmed from a first-party source, so no functional claim is made here and no safe_to_disable rating is given. In an Android Enterprise, EMM or kiosk context this is vendor platform infrastructure rather than preinstalled bloatware: it has no role in enrolment or policy and shows the user nothing, so there is no functional gain from removing it, and its apparent place in the data path is reason to be careful. If you are auditing it, treat its purpose as undocumented and test on a single device before changing its state. Version note: the package versions recorded here run from 13 to 16 across target SDKs of 28 to 36. Those numbers fall in the same range as recent Android releases, but this database records versions in aggregate rather than per build, so that is an observation and not proof that the package version tracks the platform version. No release in which its behaviour changed could be sourced.

Package intelligence

Observed signing, permission, version and size signals from contributing devices - descriptive of that sample, not a verdict. These come from the v2 Package Search sync, which not every device has contributed to yet, so for some packages this detail is partial or not present at all.

Largest permission set observed for this package. Text is Android's own published description where one exists; platform permissions Android does not document show their granted protection level (in grey) instead; vendor or unknown constants show the name only.

PermissionDescription
ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE Allows the app to view information about network connections such as which networks exist and are connected.
INTERACT_ACROSS_USERS_FULL Signature-level system permission, for platform-signed apps.
NETWORK_SETTINGS Signature-level system permission, for platform-signed apps.
RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED Allows the app to have itself started as soon as the system has finished booting. This can make it take longer to start the phone and allow the app to slow down the overall phone by always running.
WAKE_LOCK Allows the app to prevent the phone from going to sleep.

Manage on devices

ADB commands for this package (the inverse of each is included so you can undo). Run from an authorised shell or wire the equivalent into your DPC. Verify on a test device first - this database doesn’t yet classify which packages are safe to change. --user 0 targets the current user; drop it (and use a privileged shell) to act device-wide.

Disable for the current user
adb shell pm disable-user --user 0 com.qti.dpmserviceapp
Remove for the current user - a per-user uninstall; the APK stays on /system, so Restore re-adds it (-k keeps app data)
adb shell pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.qti.dpmserviceapp
Re-enable
adb shell pm enable com.qti.dpmserviceapp
Restore (re-install for the current user)
adb shell pm install-existing com.qti.dpmserviceapp

Each record is a device profile (make + model + Android version). Each unique handset that syncs against a matching profile will increase the observations of a package, thereby increasing confidence that a package is expected to be on a device.
