"System Helper Service", a small Qualcomm Technologies component that ships on Snapdragon-based devices. Samsung's Knox CC Mode application list for the Galaxy S9 names it directly, listing System Helper Service against com.qualcomm.qti.services.systemhelper at version 1.0, which places it as a documented part of a shipped Galaxy system image rather than stray bloat. In this database it appears on Fairphone, Nothing, Crosscall, HMD, Lenovo and Samsung devices as well as rugged enterprise hardware from Zebra Technologies, always OEM platform-signed and never user-facing. Its purpose is not publicly documented, but its permissions show the kind of work it is trusted to do: access to SurfaceFlinger, device power, user management, writing system settings and reading privileged phone state, plus a private close action of its own. Samsung-specific permissions covering trusted touch and alarm interaction also appear in the recorded permission set. This database reports permissions aggregated across the whole sample rather than per build, so those Samsung permissions cannot be attributed to Samsung builds specifically from this source alone, and reading them as an OEM extension is an inference. Either way it is a wide grant for a helper service, and that is the main reason to leave it alone. For Android Enterprise, EMM and kiosk use it has no role in enrolment or policy and shows the user nothing, so there is no functional gain from removing it. There is a recorded downside: a community debloating tracker holds a report, filed under breakage, of a device on which no applications would run after this package was removed. That is a single user report rather than a verified finding, but together with the permission set it is reason enough not to strip it from a fleet. No safe_to_disable rating is given here because the component's actual function could not be sourced. Version note: it is recorded here at version 1.0 throughout, with target SDKs from 29 to 35 on devices from API 28 to 35, and Samsung's Galaxy S9 list from the Android 10 era shows the same version 1.0. That is consistent with a long-standing vendor component rather than one whose role changed at a particular release, and no Android version in which its behaviour changed could be sourced.

Package intelligence

Observed signing, permission, version and size signals from contributing devices - descriptive of that sample, not a verdict. These come from the v2 Package Search sync, which not every device has contributed to yet, so for some packages this detail is partial or not present at all.

PermissionDescription
ACCESS_SURFACE_FLINGER Signature-level system permission, for platform-signed apps.
DEVICE_POWER Signature-level system permission, for platform-signed apps.

RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED Allows the app to have itself started as soon as the system has finished booting. This can make it take longer to start the phone and allow the app to slow down the overall phone by always running.
WAKE_LOCK Allows the app to prevent the phone from going to sleep.
WRITE_SETTINGS Allows the app to modify the system's settings data. Malicious apps may corrupt your system's configuration.

Manage on devices

ADB commands for this package (the inverse of each is included so you can undo). Run from an authorised shell or wire the equivalent into your DPC. Verify on a test device first - this database doesn’t yet classify which packages are safe to change. --user 0 targets the current user; drop it (and use a privileged shell) to act device-wide.

Disable for the current user
adb shell pm disable-user --user 0 com.qualcomm.qti.services.systemhelper
Remove for the current user - a per-user uninstall; the APK stays on /system, so Restore re-adds it (-k keeps app data)
adb shell pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.qualcomm.qti.services.systemhelper
Re-enable
adb shell pm enable com.qualcomm.qti.services.systemhelper
Restore (re-install for the current user)
adb shell pm install-existing com.qualcomm.qti.services.systemhelper

Each record is a device profile (make + model + Android version). Each unique handset that syncs against a matching profile will increase the observations of a package, thereby increasing confidence that a package is expected to be on a device.
