An Italian voice pack for the Samsung text-to-speech engine, reported on devices as "SamsungTTS Italian Default voice 1 - Classic". It is not an app in its own right: it holds voice data that the Samsung engine (com.samsung.SMT, documented separately on this site) uses to speak Italian. It has no launcher icon, and in our sample it is signed by a Samsung OEM key that is separate from the one that signs the device framework. Samsung documents that voices for its engine are managed under Settings, General management, Text-to-speech, where further voice data can be installed, so which voice packs are present can vary between devices. Version note: in our sample these packs only appear on Galaxy devices running Android 14 to 17, so behaviour on older releases is not covered here. No change in their role across those releases could be sourced. For Android Enterprise, EMM and kiosk use a voice pack is not part of enrolment or policy. It only matters where the Samsung engine is the selected text-to-speech engine and spoken output is needed in this language, for example on a device used with a screen reader or read-aloud features. Where no spoken output is needed, or the device uses Google's engine or a different language, it does little; disabling it removes that voice until it is re-enabled or installed again. Check the selected engine and language before changing anything, and test on one device first.

• Signed by the device maker's own signing key (Samsung), so it is an OEM preinstall, and that single certificate is consistent across all 17 device profiles. Inferred from the certificate appearing only on Samsung devices (18 packages, 377 observations).
• Never reported as user-facing, so it runs as a background or system component rather than an app the user opens.
