The Clipboard edge panel, made by Samsung. Edge panels are the One UI feature that puts a handle on the side of the screen; swiping it inwards opens a strip of small panels that work over whatever app is in the foreground. Samsung ships a fixed set of panels and lets the user pick which of them appear, and Clipboard is one of them. In our sample the package carries the on-device label "Clipboard edge", is signed by Samsung's platform key, and has READ_CLIPBOARD_IN_BACKGROUND among its recorded permissions. Samsung documents copying text and pictures to the clipboard and pasting them into another app, but it does not publish a description of what the Clipboard panel itself shows. Reading the panel as a view of clipboard content held outside the app that copied it is an inference from its name and that permission rather than a documented behaviour, and how much previously copied material it keeps is unsourced, so confirm that on a device if the answer matters to you. Version note: the surrounding feature has moved even where the panel has not. Samsung's own regional instructions differ on how to reach the panel list: one routes through Settings, Display, Edge screen, Edge panels, another goes straight to Settings, Display, Edge panels, and we could not source which release changed it. Samsung does document a redesign between One UI 6.1.0 and One UI 6.1.1 in which the separate Smart select panel was removed and pinned inside the Apps panel instead, and Android Authority reports that recent One UI releases limit users to Samsung's preinstalled panels where the Galaxy Store once offered third-party ones. We could not source a change to the Clipboard panel specifically, so treat the panel list, not this package, as the thing that varies by release. For Android Enterprise, EMM and kiosk fleets this is worth a decision rather than a shrug. It opens over the top of a locked-down app, and to whatever extent it does show previously copied content, that is a route by which one user's material, including one-time codes and pasted credentials, could be read by the next person to pick up a shared or kiosk device. Samsung's own fleet control is cleaner than fighting the package: Knox Service Plugin exposes Allow Edge screen, which turns the whole edge panel feature off when set to false, and Allow Clipboard, which governs clipboard use generally. Because the panel is one the user can already deselect in Settings, removing the package is not expected to affect anything else, but test it on a device before applying it to a fleet.
