A Samsung system package reported on devices as "Document scanner" or "Document scan". Samsung does not document it by package name in the sources cited here, so its role is inferred from its label, its permissions (camera and access to user-selected photos, among others) and Samsung's own description of document scanning. Samsung documents that Galaxy devices scan documents from the Camera app, with the result saved to Gallery and editable in Samsung Notes, and SamMobile reports that One UI 8.5 added a dedicated Document scan mode in Camera, with filters and clean-up tools, that can be added to the Apps screen as its own icon (reported as starting on the Galaxy S26 series, with other recent Galaxy S and Z models expected to follow). This package appears to provide that scanning capability, but Samsung has not confirmed this. In our sample it is signed by the same Samsung key that signs the device framework. Version note: in our sample it only appears on Galaxy devices running Android 15 to 17, with package versions ranging from 1.x to 3.x. It is already present on Android 15 devices, before the One UI 8.5 Document scan mode was reported, so the package's role may have changed between releases; exactly what changed, and in which version, could not be sourced. For Android Enterprise, EMM and kiosk use no enrolment or policy role is identified in the sources cited here. If it is the scanner its label indicates, disabling it could affect document scanning on fleets that rely on it. Its exact dependencies and the effect of disabling it are not documented, so test on one device, including the Camera app's scanning, before disabling it at scale.

It also signs the Android framework, so it is a platform-level key on its device(s). Inferred from the certificate appearing only on Samsung devices (580 packages, 11729 observations).
