Quick Share Agent
Guidance
A Samsung package associated with Quick Share, Samsung's peer-to-peer sharing feature. It is made by Samsung and signed by a Samsung OEM key in our sample. Our sample labels it "Quick Share Agent", Samsung's Galaxy Store carries a listing of that name at this package name, and Samsung's own Common Criteria mode application lists for the Galaxy S20 5G record it as "Quick Share". Being listed in Galaxy Store means it can be updated independently of firmware. Samsung publishes no component-level breakdown of Quick Share, so what this package does, and how it divides work with the user-facing Quick Share app com.samsung.android.app.sharelive (documented separately on this site), could not be sourced. The association recorded here rests on the name Samsung itself attaches to the package in those lists and in its store. Version note: the name attached to this package has moved. Samsung's Galaxy S20 5G application lists record it as "Quick Share" on both the Android 10 and Android 11 builds (versions 1.0.11.52 and 3.2.11.17 respectively), while current devices and the Galaxy Store show "Quick Share Agent". The wider feature also changed shape: on 9 January 2024 Google announced that, working with Samsung, it was bringing Nearby Share and Quick Share together into a single cross-Android solution under the Quick Share name, rolling out to existing Nearby Share devices from the following month. Whether this package's role changed with that merger is not documented by either vendor and could not be sourced. For Android Enterprise, EMM and kiosk work, treat Quick Share as a data egress path rather than as a single blockable app. Samsung's Knox knowledge base states that nearby sharing cannot be disabled by an application management policy from a UEM console or from Knox Service Plugin, because that path is delivered through Google Play services, and directs administrators instead to the Device Restrictions policy "Allow Share Via", or to turning off Bluetooth, location or Wi-Fi. Read the scope of that article carefully: it addresses the Google Play services sharing path, not this Samsung package, and it does not establish what blocking this package achieves on a current post-merger build. Test any restriction on a device before relying on it.

Package intelligence
Observed signing, permission, version and size signals from contributing devices - descriptive of that sample, not a verdict. These come from the v2 Package Search sync, which not every device has contributed to yet, so for some packages this detail is partial or not present at all.
- Signed by the device maker's own signing key (Samsung), so it is an OEM preinstall, but 2 different certificates appear across the fleet, so OEMs ship their own builds of it. It also signs the Android framework, so it is a platform-level key on its device(s). Inferred from the certificate appearing only on Samsung devices (508 packages, 10196 observations).
- Its largest observed manifest declares 55 permissions: 12 runtime (user-granted), 10 signature or system-level, 9 install-time and 24 vendor or uncatalogued.
- APK size ranges from 3.4 MB to 13.8 MB across the reporting device profiles, so the build differs substantially between them.
- Reported as an updated system app on 14 of 22 profiles - a newer build is installed over the one in the system image there.
Declared permissions (55)
Largest permission set observed for this package. Text is Android's own published description where one exists; platform permissions Android does not document show their granted protection level (in grey) instead; vendor or unknown constants show the name only.

Manage on devices
ADB commands for this package (the inverse of each is included so you can undo). Run from an authorised shell or wire the equivalent into your DPC. Verify on a test device first - this database doesn’t yet classify which packages are safe to change. --user 0 targets the current user; drop it (and use a privileged shell) to act device-wide.
