The installer package for "Samsung Kids", Samsung's child-friendly environment on Galaxy phones and tablets. Samsung makes it and it is signed by a Samsung OEM key in our sample. Samsung's own Common Criteria mode application list for the Galaxy S20 5G records this package as "Samsung Kids Installer" on the Android 11 build, and Samsung's Galaxy Store carries a listing of the same name at this package name, so it can be updated through the store as well as through firmware. Samsung describes Samsung Kids itself as a protected space entered and left with a PIN or biometrics, with a parental dashboard, restrictions on the apps, contacts and media a child can reach, and daily playtime and bedtime limits. Version note: the name attached to this package changed between Android releases. The same device's Android 10 application list records it as "Kids Home Installer" (version 10.2.05), while the Android 11 list records it as "Samsung Kids Installer" (version 10.3.00.2), so an older inventory may name this package differently. Separately, Samsung says that on Android versions below 9.0 users may find similar features under "Kids Mode", downloadable or updatable through Galaxy Store. Samsung does not state that Kids Mode is this same package, so treat that as a comparable earlier feature rather than a confirmed earlier name for it. For Android Enterprise, EMM and kiosk work the obvious reading is that this is a consumer feature to strip from a corporate device, but check your tooling first. Samsung's Knox Configure documentation includes a Samsung Kids profile setting that lets an administrator customise the deployed experience: apps added to the home screen, home and welcome screen wallpapers, app names and icons, playtime limit countdowns, an allowlist of installable apps, browser bookmarks and allowed websites, and a custom video on the installer screen. Samsung notes a version limit on part of that: "Change app name" and "Change app icon" are not supported on devices running Android 15 or later. Where such a profile is in use, Samsung Kids is a supported building block for child-facing or education deployments and this package is part of the deployment rather than clutter. On a fleet with no such profile, no role for it in enrolment, management or telephony was found during this check.

It also signs the Android framework, so it is a platform-level key on its device(s). Inferred from the certificate appearing only on Samsung devices (508 packages, 10196 observations).

• APK size ranges from 0.6 MB to 6.3 MB across the reporting device profiles, so the build differs substantially between them.
• Reported as an updated system app on 1 of 22 profiles - a newer build is installed over the one in the system image there.
