Labelled "Smart Switch Assistant", this is the companion on-device background component of Samsung Smart Switch, Samsung's tool for transferring content to a new Galaxy device. It works alongside the Smart Switch Agent (com.sec.android.easyMover.Agent) to support the transfer feature described by Samsung, which moves contacts, photos, videos, messages and other content from an old Android or iOS phone over a cable, wirelessly, or via external storage. In our sample it is signed with Samsung's platform key. The user-facing Smart Switch app is a separate package (com.sec.android.easyMover). Samsung does not document what each of these helper components does individually, so treat this package as part of the Smart Switch transfer function rather than assuming a precise standalone role. Smart Switch is a long-standing, preinstalled Galaxy feature and largely evergreen; no version-specific change of role could be sourced for this component. For Android Enterprise, EMM and kiosk use it is a consumer migration helper with no role in enrolment or management, and is typically not needed on a corporate or dedicated device. As Samsung documents Smart Switch as a whole rather than the disabling of this background component, treat removal with caution and test on a single device first.
