Gestural Navigation Bar
Guidance
A Samsung navigation-bar Runtime Resource Overlay (RRO) on Galaxy devices, and a sibling of com.samsung.internal.systemui.navbar.sec_gestural. RROs replace a target package's resource values at runtime without changing its code, and Android selects its navigation mode through overlays of this kind. It carries the label "Gestural Navigation Bar", has no launcher icon, declares no permissions and is applied by the overlay manager rather than launched. The "no_hint" element of the name lines up with Samsung's "Gesture hint" setting being off. Samsung describes Gesture hint as the on-screen guidance for gesture navigation, telling users to "Turn on Gesture hint for help on where to swipe", and notes that turning it off removes the lines shown at the bottom of the screen. On that reading this overlay is the gesture-navigation variant that omits the hint. Samsung does not publish which overlay each navigation setting selects, so this mapping is apparent from the naming rather than sourced, and it is a Samsung addition in any case: AOSP's overlay set in frameworks/base contains no NoHint variant in either the android13-release or android15-release branch. On this site it is Samsung-signed, by a key the site does not record as signing the framework, with a version name of 1.0 and a target SDK range of 31 to 37. Version note: Samsung states that One UI 6.1 removed "Gesture hint" from Swipe gestures settings, and that it can still be enabled through Good Lock's NavStar app. The package continues to appear on builds after that change, so finding it on a current device does not mean the Gesture hint toggle is present in Settings. Which One UI versions actually apply this overlay could not be sourced. For Android Enterprise, EMM and kiosk use it has no enrolment or policy role and nothing a user interacts with. Only one navigation-mode overlay is active at a time and the choice is made through the overlay manager and Settings, not by disabling packages. Disabling whichever overlay is in use can disturb navigation, so leave it in place; use your EMM's lock task or kiosk policies to constrain navigation on managed devices.

Package intelligence
Observed signing, permission, version and size signals from contributing devices - descriptive of that sample, not a verdict. These come from the v2 Package Search sync, which not every device has contributed to yet, so for some packages this detail is partial or not present at all.
- Signed by the device maker's own signing key (Samsung), so it is an OEM preinstall, and that single certificate is consistent across all 22 device profiles. Inferred from the certificate appearing only on Samsung devices (81 packages, 1815 observations).
- Never reported as user-facing, so it runs as a background or system component rather than an app the user opens.
Manage on devices
ADB commands for this package (the inverse of each is included so you can undo). Run from an authorised shell or wire the equivalent into your DPC. Verify on a test device first - this database doesn’t yet classify which packages are safe to change. --user 0 targets the current user; drop it (and use a privileged shell) to act device-wide.
/system, so Restore re-adds it (-k keeps app data)Seen on
Each record is a device profile (make + model + Android version). Each unique handset that syncs against a matching profile will increase the observations of a package, thereby increasing confidence that a package is expected to be on a device.
