com.samsung.internal.systemui.navbar.sec_gestural Copy

A Samsung navigation-bar Runtime Resource Overlay (RRO) found on Galaxy devices. An RRO changes another package's resource values at runtime without modifying its code, and Android uses a set of such overlays to select the navigation mode a device runs in. This package sits in Samsung's own com.samsung.internal.systemui.navbar namespace, which mirrors the AOSP com.android.internal.systemui.navbar overlays (gestural, threebutton and transparent) documented separately on this site. It carries the label "Gestural Navigation Bar", has no launcher icon, declares no permissions and is applied by the overlay manager rather than opened by a user. It is a Samsung addition rather than an AOSP component. The AOSP overlay set in frameworks/base holds only NavigationBarMode2ButtonOverlay, NavigationBarMode3ButtonOverlay and NavigationBarModeGesturalOverlay (plus the back-sensitivity variants in older branches), with no equivalent of this package in either the android13-release or android15-release branch. The "sec" element of the name is the prefix Samsung uses across its own packages, as in the com.sec.* namespace, which suggests this is Samsung's own gesture variant rather than the AOSP one. Samsung does not publish which overlay each navigation setting selects, so that mapping is apparent from the naming rather than sourced. On this site it is Samsung-signed, by a key the site does not record as signing the framework, with a version name of 1.0 and a target SDK range of 31 to 37. Version note: Samsung states that in One UI 6.1 the dedicated "Swipe from bottom" option was removed from Swipe gestures settings, along with "Gesture hint", and that those options can still be enabled through Good Lock's NavStar app. The overlays themselves remain present on builds well past that point, so the presence of this package on a current device does not tell you that a matching toggle is exposed in Settings. Exactly which One UI versions wire this particular overlay up, and to what, could not be sourced. For Android Enterprise, EMM and kiosk use it has no role in enrolment or policy and exposes nothing a user interacts with. Navigation mode is selected through the overlay manager and the Settings app, not by enabling or disabling packages, and only one navigation-mode overlay is active at a time. Disabling the overlay a device is currently using can disturb navigation, which on a kiosk device is a poor failure mode, so it should be left in place. To constrain navigation on managed devices, use your EMM's lock task or kiosk policies instead.

• Signed by the device maker's own signing key (Samsung), so it is an OEM preinstall, and that single certificate is consistent across all 22 device profiles. Inferred from the certificate appearing only on Samsung devices (81 packages, 1815 observations).
• Never reported as user-facing, so it runs as a background or system component rather than an app the user opens.
