A Samsung system package with no label of its own: this site records the package name in place of a label across the locales in its sample. It has no launcher entry, no observation here is user-facing, none is Play-eligible, and this site records no requested permissions for it. Builds are small, between roughly 16.9 KB and 21.0 KB. No Samsung documentation for it was found in research for this note; the search results that named the package were debloat and bloatware lists, which are not a basis for a claim. What follows is therefore inference from the name and the provenance data, and should be read as such. The "overlay" suffix, the empty permission set and the small size fit a Runtime Resource Overlay (RRO), which AOSP defines as a package that changes the resource values of a target package at runtime, and which cannot carry code. "fastpair" reads as a reference to Fast Pair, which Google's Android Help describes as a way to find and connect devices and accessories to an Android device. The "qs" prefix is not explained in any source cited here. If it is the overlay its name suggests, it would adjust resource values used by a Fast Pair related component in Samsung's firmware; which package it targets, and which values it sets, could not be sourced. Provenance: this site records it only on Samsung devices, 38 distinct device variants, under a single Samsung OEM certificate. That certificate is not recorded as also signing the Android framework. Version note. Observations here run from API 34 to API 37, the oldest build by version code carries the version name 14 and the newest 17, and this site's target SDK roll-up reports 33 at both its minimum and its maximum. Those are independent roll-ups across observations rather than a per-build pairing, so they cannot show whether a build's version name matches the Android release of the device carrying it. The package has not been observed below API 34 in this sample, which is consistent with it arriving in Android 14 era firmware, but when it was introduced, and whether its role has changed since, could not be sourced and is flagged here as an open question. For Android Enterprise, EMM and kiosk use, no enrolment or management role is identified in the sources cited here, and it presents nothing to a user, so an administrator normally meets it in an EMM app inventory. If it is a resource overlay, disabling it would remove its resource overrides; the resulting values, and any effect on Fast Pair features, could not be sourced, and no hardening benefit is established by the cited sources. Where the concern is pairing prompts on managed devices, Google's Android Help documents that Fast Pair notifications for nearby devices are turned on or off with "Scan for nearby devices" under Settings, Google, Devices and sharing, Devices; nothing cited here shows whether this package plays any part in that setting, so test the effect on one device before acting on either.

• Signed by the device maker's own signing key (Samsung), so it is an OEM preinstall, and that single certificate is consistent across all 19 device profiles. Inferred from the certificate appearing only on Samsung devices (81 packages, 1815 observations).
