Samsung Gallery, the stock photo and video viewer on Galaxy devices, made by Samsung. The "gallery3d" element of the package name is a historical naming artefact and we have not sourced its origin, but the ownership is not in doubt: in our sample the package is signed by the same Samsung key that signs the device framework, and Samsung's Knox documentation refers to com.sec.android.gallery3d as the Samsung Gallery app. It handles browsing, albums, on-device editing and a trash area for recently deleted items. For Android Enterprise, EMM and kiosk use it is the natural companion to the Camera app: Samsung's guidance for multi-app kiosks is to add both, since Gallery is unavailable by default in a kiosk and without it captured photos cannot be viewed. It is user-facing and appears in the launcher. Note on cloud sync rather than Android version: Samsung documents that Gallery photos and videos can be synced and backed up using Microsoft OneDrive or Google Drive, and where that sync is enabled images captured on a corporate device can leave for a personal cloud account, which is worth checking against your data-handling policy. Samsung qualifies the OneDrive integration as varying by software version, carrier and country rather than being present everywhere, and its own OneDrive sync page states that the feature is ending on 30 September 2026, so any process that depends on Gallery to OneDrive sync needs revisiting. Disabling Gallery is less disruptive than disabling Camera, but it removes the default viewer that other apps hand off to, so test before rolling it out.
