A Samsung package preinstalled on Galaxy devices whose English label is "Favourite Contacts" (or "Favorite Contacts" in US English), with localised equivalents in other locales. Its package namespace (widgetapp) and label indicate a home screen contacts widget, and no observation recorded here reports it as user-facing. In our sample it is signed by a Samsung OEM key that does not sign the Android framework; this site records that key on nine packages. The permissions this site records for it are READ_CONTACTS, a permission named for Samsung's launcher settings (READ_SETTINGS), RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED, FOREGROUND_SERVICE, WAKE_LOCK, ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE and INTERNET, plus a package-internal receiver permission. This site aggregates permissions across observations rather than per build, so which builds declare which of these cannot be established. The package name ties it to Easy mode, Samsung's simplified layout with larger icons, fonts and spacing, turned on under Settings, Display, Easy mode. Samsung documents that in Easy mode you swipe across the home screen to a Contacts page, where you can add a new or existing contact and remove contacts. That this package supplies that Contacts page is an inference from its name, label and permissions; the Samsung pages cited do not name the package. Version note: in our sample it is listed on devices running API 28 (Android 9) to API 37, and this site's roll-up reports oldest and newest version names of 13.0.16 and 15.3.02. No change in its role across those releases could be sourced. For Android Enterprise, EMM and kiosk use, no enrolment or policy role is identified in the sources cited here. If it is the contacts widget its name and label indicate, disabling it could remove that widget or affect the Easy mode Contacts page. Effects on calling or contacts functions could not be established, so no safe-to-disable rating is given. If you are considering disabling it, test on a single device first, including the Easy mode Contacts page on devices issued to users who rely on Easy mode.
