com.android.wifi.system.resources.overlay Copy

A resource-only package with no launcher entry, which by its name and by the pattern of its siblings on this site is a Runtime Resource Overlay (RRO) for the Android Wi-Fi module's resources. AOSP explains that the Wi-Fi module does not support direct customisation and that its configuration can be customised with RROs or carrier configs, via an overlayable set named WifiCustomization. No observation recorded here reports this package as user-facing. What it targets could not be sourced. This site documents two similarly named overlays, com.android.wifi.resources.overlay and com.android.wifi.mainline.resources.overlay, and this "system" variant appears to be a further build-specific sibling in the same family, but no source consulted states which resources package this one overlays or which values it sets. Treat its exact contents as build-specific. Provenance: in this site's sample it is listed on 30 devices and is signed by each device maker with its own platform-level key (ten certificates across eight makes, including TCL, Motorola, Xiaomi, OPPO, OUKITEL and Newland), each recorded as also signing the Android framework. That is the pattern of a package every maker builds into its own firmware, not a third-party preinstall. The roll-up reports target SDK 34 to 35 and version name 1.0. Version note: AOSP states the Wi-Fi module is delivered in APEX format on Android 11 or higher, so an overlay for its resources belongs to that module layout. Whether this package's role changed between releases could not be sourced. For Android Enterprise, EMM and kiosk use it has no enrolment or policy role. Disabling it would drop whatever Wi-Fi resource overrides it carries, which could not be established without inspecting a device's copy, and no management benefit is identified to weigh against that. Leave it in place and use your EMM's Wi-Fi configuration and restriction policies instead.

• Re-signed by each device maker with its own platform key - 10 different certificates appear across 8 device makers in our sample. That is the signature of a stock AOSP/system package every OEM builds and signs itself, not a single maker's or a third party's preinstall. These are platform-level keys: they also sign the Android framework itself.
• Never reported as user-facing, so it runs as a background or system component rather than an app the user opens.
