Shown on the device as "Dolby" (one observation records the label "daxService"), this is a system package with no launcher icon. Despite the Dolby package name, every signer recorded for it in our sample is a device maker's OEM key that also signs the Android framework, a platform-level key: Motorola keys on moto g, edge and ThinkPhone devices and a Lenovo key on a Lenovo tablet. That indicates it ships as part of the OEM firmware rather than as a separately published Dolby app. Its name and label point to Dolby audio processing. Motorola's support page for the moto g15 (one of the models in our sample) describes a Dolby Atmos feature with Smart audio, Spatial audio and preset profiles, an equaliser, Surround virtualiser and Volume leveller, controlled from a Dolby Atmos quick settings tile and Settings > Sound & vibration > Dolby Atmos. That page does not name this package, so treating it as the service behind that feature is an inference from its name and label, and no Dolby or Motorola description of the package itself was found. Version note: in our sample it appears on Lenovo and Motorola devices running Android 11 through 16, signed by six different OEM keys, and this site's roll-up records version strings as different as "15" and "06.04.00". Those figures do not establish what changed between builds, and no change in its role across Android versions could be sourced. For Android Enterprise, EMM and kiosk use, no enrolment or management role is identified in the sources cited here. If the inference above holds, disabling it would be expected to affect Dolby audio processing, which may matter on media, signage or conferencing deployments where audio quality is noticeable. Motorola documents a supported way to turn Dolby Atmos off in Settings, which is the safer route if consistent unprocessed audio is the goal. Test on the target model before disabling the package itself.
