com.google.android.server.deviceconfig.resources Copy

A resources-only package belonging to the Config Infrastructure module, not an app with a user interface. In the AOSP source it is the ServiceResources component of packages/modules/ConfigInfrastructure, whose manifest is commented "Manifest for resources APK", declares the package name com.android.server.deviceconfig.resources and carries an empty application element with no activities or services. The Config Infrastructure module "contains the infrastructure code that enables the platform and modules to use feature flags" and ships in APEX format; DeviceConfig is the API behind those flags. This package holds the overlayable configuration defaults that the module reads at runtime, kept separate so device makers can adjust them with Runtime Resource Overlays rather than by changing module code. Concretely, the values in its config.xml govern unattended reboots: the start and end hours of the permitted reboot window (3am to 5am in AOSP), the reboot frequency in days (2), and whether the device must be charging for an unattended reboot to trigger (false by default). Those defaults are what an OEM overlay would change. Version note: DeviceConfig and its persistence logic were moved out of frameworks/base into the Config Infrastructure module for Android 14, which is when this package appears; in this site's sample it is observed only on API 34 to 36 and not below. On a device built with AOSP keys the package is com.android.server.deviceconfig.resources; the Google-signed variant recorded here is com.google.android.server.deviceconfig.resources. Unlike most overlay and resource packages on this site, every observation of this one is Google-signed. For Android Enterprise, EMM and kiosk use it has no role in enrolment or policy and exposes nothing a user interacts with. It is worth knowing about only because the reboot window it configures is the sort of thing fleet operators ask about, but it is not the supported way to manage that: it is system infrastructure the module depends on, so it should be left in place rather than disabled or removed.
