com.google.android.accessibility.switchaccess Copy

This is Switch Access, a Google accessibility app. It lets someone operate an Android device with one or more switches (USB or Bluetooth buttons, the volume keys, or facial gestures via Camera Switches) instead of the touchscreen, which is essential for users with limited motor control. In our sample it is signed by Google and ships preinstalled on many devices licensed for Google Mobile Services, updating independently through the Play Store. There is a version dimension worth flagging. Switch Access used to be provided by the Android Accessibility Suite (the TalkBack package). Google has since removed Switch Access from the Accessibility Suite and now ships it as a separate, standalone app, which is why it appears as its own package. Google's help pages do not tie this split to a specific Android version, so the exact release could not be sourced. For Android Enterprise, EMM and kiosk fleets the service is turned on by the user in Settings under Accessibility, so it is inactive until enabled. Treat disabling or blocking it with caution: it is assistive technology that some users depend on to operate the device at all, and Google's company-owned-device guidance recommends against blocking accessibility apps. On a genuinely single-purpose kiosk where assistive input is neither needed nor permitted it may be disabled, but general-purpose fleets should normally leave it in place. • Signed by Google's own signing key (the same key Google uses across devices), so it is a Google-provided preinstall that updates independently of the system image, though 2 different Google signing keys appear across the fleet. This certificate spans 14 device makes - the hallmark of a globally distributed Google key.
• Its largest observed manifest declares 15 permissions: 5 runtime (user-granted), 6 install-time and 4 vendor or uncatalogued.
• APK size ranges from 9.8 MB to 14.7 MB across the reporting device profiles, so the build differs substantially between them.
• Reported as an updated system app on 50 of 27 profiles - a newer build is installed over the one in the system image there.
