System UWB resources, a resources-only package rather than an ordinary app. It holds configuration values and resources for the ultra-wideband (UWB) stack, which on modern Android is delivered as an updatable Project Mainline module. This is the Google-signed variant of the same component; the AOSP build ships the equivalent as com.android.uwb.resources, documented separately on this site, and both fill the same role of supplying resources that the UWB service reads at runtime. In our sample it is Google-signed and has no user-facing entry. Version note: the UWB module was introduced in Android 13 as an updatable Project Mainline component (the com.android.uwb / com.google.android.uwb APEX module), per the AOSP documentation; earlier releases did not deliver UWB as this module. This resources package is versioned alongside that module. UWB itself is an optional short-range radio that is only present and active on hardware that supports it, so on a device without UWB hardware the resources package has nothing to drive. For Android Enterprise, EMM and kiosk use it has no role in enrolment or management and exposes nothing a user interacts with. Because the UWB service reads its configuration from this package, disabling it offers no benefit and could disrupt UWB where that radio is used (for example device ranging or digital-car-key style features), so it is best left in place and only touched with careful per-device testing.

This certificate spans 8 device makes - the hallmark of a globally distributed Google key.
• Never reported as user-facing, so it runs as a background or system component rather than an app the user opens.
