com.google.mainline.adservices Copy

A Google-signed Project Mainline bookkeeping package, usually shown to users under the label "Main components". It is tied to the AdServices module, which provides the Privacy Sandbox on Android (Topics, FLEDGE, Attribution Reporting and the SDK Runtime). Its observable role is as the AdServices train's version marker rather than the working code: the actual functionality lives in the separate AdServices module (the com.google.android.adservices APEX and the com.google.android.adservices.api app, both documented elsewhere on this site). It has no user interface of its own. Version note: the AdServices module it relates to was introduced in Android 13, so this is a relatively recent addition to the Mainline set; it is seen on devices that receive Google Play system updates. Sources do not fully pin down how much, if any, active code this specific companion package contains, so that is treated here as uncertain. For Android Enterprise, EMM and kiosk use it has no enrolment or management role. If the goal is to limit ads-related or Privacy Sandbox behaviour, do that through the AdServices and Privacy Sandbox controls rather than this version package; there is no benefit to disabling this package, so leave it in place.

• Signed by Google's own signing key (the same key Google uses across devices), so it is a Google-provided preinstall that updates independently of the system image, though 2 different Google signing keys appear across the fleet. This certificate spans 15 device makes - the hallmark of a globally distributed Google key.
